Fire Hydrant Flow Tests | City of Grand Rapids, Michigan

Fire hydrant flow tests measure water pressure and flow capacity in a specific area by opening and flowing nearby fire hydrants.

These tests are intended for developers, engineers, fire protection vendors, and commercial planning purposes. They help us collect important system data, including:

Water main size
Static pressure
Residual pressure
Pitot reading
Gallons per minute

You may request existing flow test data or a new flow test for any location within the Grand Rapids Water System.

Existing Flow Test Data (No charge)

Choose this option if you are requesting existing fire hydrant flow test data. This information is provided at no cost.

Request Existing Flow Test Data

New Flow Test ($200 charge)

Choose this option if you need a new fire hydrant flow test. A new test may be required for new development projects, building renovations, or insurance purposes. There is a $200 fee for this test.
