Homeowner Payments Guide

As a homeowner in Grand Rapids, you could receive a few different bills from the City. The common ones are your water utility and property taxes. In this guide, you'll find all your payment options for utilities, taxes, fees, and more.

Are you a new homeowner or have you relocated to Grand Rapids? Welcome! The City of Grand Rapids offers utility services, but these don't include electricity or natural gas. These are provided by the below companies:

  • Electric - Consumers Energy 1-800-805-0490
  • Gas - DTE Energy 1-800-477-4747

The services we provide and how to pay for them are explained below.

Water/Sewer

The Water Department sends you a bill every 3 months. This is the amount you owe for the past 3 months of use. You can pay your bill in full or monthly. Your payments have to be posted to your account by the due date to avoid a 10% late fee. See your payment options here.

Waste Services

Our Pay As You Throw refuse system is flexible and lets you to pay for your trash collection in a way that works for you. You can choose to pay per week, per month, or for the entire year up front if you want. Remember, your cart won't be emptied if you have a $0 balance in your account. See your payment options here.

You have a few different options to pay for your rental inspections and related fees. There are no convenience fees when you pay using your debit or credit card.

Pay Online - BS&A Online

Pay your invoice online at bsaonline.com. If this is your first time using Make sure to check out our Search or Pay Using BS&A guide if this is your first time using this service.

Mail

Send the payment stub along with a check or money order to Code Compliance 1120 Monroe Ave NW, Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

In Person

Pay in person at our Code Compliance office located at 1120 Monroe Ave NW, Suite 300. We accept cash, check, money order, Visa, Master Card, and Discover.

Did you get a bill for a City Ordinance violation? We've provided the ways you can make your payment below. There are no convenience fees when you pay using your debit or credit card.

Online

Pay your invoice online at bsaonline.com. If this is your first time using AccessMyGov, we suggest you read our guide.

Phone

Pay over the phone by calling our Code Compliance office at 616-456-3053, then press option 2. We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover.

Mail

Send the payment stub along with check or money order to 1120 Monroe Ave NW, Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

In Person

Pay in person at our Code Compliance office located at 1120 Monroe Ave NW, Suite 300. We accept cash, check, money order, Visa, Master Card, and Discover.

Do you have a Housing Rehabilitation or Lead Hazard Control Program loan from the Community Development Department? Below are your options for making a payment: 

Mail

Mail your payment to Grand Rapids City Treasurer 300 Monroe Avenue NW Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Don't mail cash. Write your loan number on the memo line of your check.

In Person

Go directly to the Treasurer's office on the 2nd floor of City Hall. Our business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. We accept cash, check, money order, Visa, Master Card, and Discover. There is a 3% convenience fee for using a debit or credit card.

Can't make it to City Hall during business hours? Use the drop box located at 300 Ottawa Ave NW. It's located in front of Chase Bank and clearly marked "City of Grand Rapids/City Payments". Don't put cash in the envelope, use a check or money order. Write your loan number on the memo line of your check.

Payments for lead pipe replacement loans can be made to the Treasurer's Office. Here are your payment options:
