Request Trash, Recycling, or Yard Waste Services

1. Gather your information

Here's what you'll need to get started:

• The address you want the service for
• Your move in date (or the date you want to start service)
• Your previous City address with refuse service (if any)
• Check if there are any recycling or refuse carts at your new address (optional)

2. Decide which services you want

Recycling

A service paid through property taxes with two cart sizes to choose for your household. The more recyclable material you can divert into your recycling cart from your trash cart, the less often your trash cart becomes full and the less often you have to pay to have your trash cart tipped. TRASH

A pay per tip service. We offer three different cart sizes (option below). You only pay when you use the cart. Keep in mind a smaller cart will work if you recycle often. You'll also want to keep a positive account balance.

If the cart you use for trash service is left at the curb it may be tipped and charged, regardless of the account balance.

• 32 gallon cart - great for a single person. $3.63 per use
• 64 gallon cart - ideal for a small to medium size family. $6.05 per use
• 96 gallon cart - works for a large family that may not recycle $8.47 per use

YARD WASTE

The season starts in early April and ends the second Saturday in December. Your curbside collection is the same day as your waste collection. We offer several options for curbside collection. 3. Complete the form

Keep in mind this is a pay ahead service. You'll need to prepay to start trash and/or yard waste service. Download and print or scan the form to submit.

4. Return completed form with payment

Mail or drop off the form to the address listed in the Contact Us section to the right. Check or money orders should be payable to the Grand Rapids City Treasurer.

5. We'll review your request

We'll set up the new account and follow up with you on the account information within 5 business days of receiving the form. We may contact you if our records show a cart already at the address you would like service.

6. Starting service

• If you need a cart - Our normal delivery schedule is to deliver the cart with 1 to 2 regularly scheduled service days. Once you have the cart and a positive balance in the account you are ready to use our service.
• If you have a cart - You may start using the service on the next service day

Call us at the phone number listed in the Contact Us section.

Stop in to our office at the address listed in the Contact Us section.

We accept cash, check or money order or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard or Discover) for payment. Check or money orders should be payable to the Grand Rapids City Treasurer.
