Apply for a Planned Redevelopment District (PRD) Amendment

1. Prepare your plan

You'll need to submit your plan with:

  • Two 11x17 copies
  • One digital copy in PDF format (separate files for each drawing, plan or document)

2. Hold a neighborhood meeting

Meet with the neighbors about the changes. Make sure to keep a Neighborhood Meeting Sign-In Sheet. We'll ask for this in your application. Make sure to include the meeting date, time and location.

We may table your application if you don't hold this meeting.

3. Gather your documents

To complete your application, you'll need the following documents:

  • Property information: address, parcel number, lot size frontage, depth, acres/square feet and zone district
  • Written responses to Review Standard questions on pages 4-6 of the application
  • Written description of the proposed changes. Include the extent of the change you're proposing
  • Site Plans, building elevations and floor plans
  • Special Land Use (SLU) application (if applicable)

4. Prepare your payment

The application fees vary based on the following:

  • Minor Change (Director Review)
  • Minor Deviation (Planning Commission approval)
  • Major Amendment (City Commission approval)

The application fees may change year to year - please bring a blank check to our office for payment. Make your check payable to the City of Grand Rapids.
