1) Check the requirements
We require that consultants, contractors, and subcontractors wanting to bid on City project preregister with the engineering department. This preregistration covers projects like road construction, new water mains, or facility improvements. By competing this process you will get notification of upcoming opportunities to bid on projects based on your registration.
2) Before you start
Keep in mind that this is a lengthy form. It'll take you around 25 minutes if you're prepared. You need to know what areas of work you want to perform on a city project. You'll also need to know the project value your company is capable of supporting.
For Contractor and Subcontractors, you'll also need:
- Bonding Company Information (not required for subcontractors)
- List of your company's equipment and it's total value
- Drug Free Workplace policy
- Financial Statements (if bidding on projects over $10,000)
- Any trade licenses you maintain (Electrical, HVAC, HAZMAT, etc.)
- Completed project reference form listing recent projects of similar scope
If applicable, have any City MLBE or other certifications ready as well.
Have you gathered these items? You're ready to apply!
4) Next steps
Once you submit your application, our team will review your information. We'll email you when that review is complete. If we have no questions, you'll receive confirmation of your eligible work items.
This process can take up to 1 week. If you have any questions you can contact us.
If you haven't done so already, you'll also need to sign up with our 3rd party bid system, Bid Express. Check out more info on these steps in our Bid Opportunities and Results guide.
