Apply for an Emergency Absentee Ballot
Did an unexpected emergency disrupt your plans to vote at the last minute? You might be able to apply for an emergency absentee ballot.
Make sure you're eligible to get this type of absentee ballot
You can get an emergency absentee ballot if you meet one of these requirements:
- You have become physically disabled
- A family death or illness requires you to leave your community for the entire time the polls are open on Election Day
The emergency must have happened at a time which made it impossible for you to apply for a regular absent voter ballot.
Normally you would need to request an absentee ballot before the deadline. That deadline is 2:00 pm the Saturday before the election.
Make sure you apply on time
You'll still need to make sure you apply for an emergency ballot before 4:00 pm on Election Day. You must return your ballot to the address listed in the Contact Us section of this page by 8:00 pm on Election Day.
