File a Request to Rescind Principal Residence Exemption (PRE)
1. Complete the Michigan Form 2602
The form to remove this exemption is a State of Michigan form called the Request to Rescind Principal Residence Exemption (PRE). Make sure to file this form shortly after you sell your home.
You can fill out the form on your computer, but you'll need to print it and sign it before turning in the original to the City Assessor's office. Don't have a printer? You can pick up the form at our office, we're located at the address listed in the Contact Us section of this page.
2. Mail or Bring the form to our office
You have the option to complete the form at our office. If you filled it out at home and you're ready to submit, visit us at the address listed in the Contact Us section of this page. Our office hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
3. We'll update our records
Once we receive your request, we will update our records that you no longer claim the exemption on that property.
