1. Check if your proposed intersection street art is eligible 

We're excited to learn more about your proposed street art! Let's first see if it's eligible. We require a level of compatibility with the character and architectural style of the surrounding area. Street art within intersections are eligible, but they can't be installed within crosswalks.

3. Check the material requirements

Chalk

If you use any chalk, make sure it's water soluble.

Paint

Make sure you paint the street art with only acrylic water-based traffic marking paint. We ask that you use traditional colors (white, yellow, blue, red, and black) or other colors achieved by mixing the traditional colors.

Paint should not:

• Result in a slippery surface. To ensure this, use traffic marking paint that contains an anti-skid additive
• Be applied using an aerosol paint or a paint sprayer device
• Be retroreflective

4. Gather your information

You'll need to provide us with information about:

• How long you're proposing the street art to exist (temporary or permanent)
• The proposed location. We'll ask for pictures and maps of the proposed site
• The artwork. We'll ask you to upload a drawing or copy of the proposed public artwork
• The concept behind the street art and the materials planned to use

5. Complete the application

6. We'll review your application

We'll assess your street art concept, timeline, and other details. We'll contact you if we need more information.

7. We'll make a recommendation

We forward a recommendation (to either approve or deny) to you, the City Manager, and the Planning Department.

8. Create the street art

After we approve your street art, you're all set to begin creating!
