City prepares to welcome thousands Downtown for fireworks spectacular

On Saturday, Grand Rapids will welcome thousands of visitors Downtown for its annual Grand Rapids Fireworks, presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in celebration of Independence Day. In advance of crowds gathering for the spectacular display, the City of Grand Rapids is issuing tips for navigating Downtown and enjoying the fireworks with family, friends and neighbors.

City offices closed July 4; pools and splash pads open

City of Grand Rapids non-emergency offices and departments are closed Friday, July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. Friday's refuse, yard waste and recycling services will be collected Saturday. Grand Rapids’ three pools and 15 splash pads remain open during the Independence Day holiday weekend. Pools are open July 4 (11:30 am to 4:30 pm). All splash pads are open July 4 (10 am to 9 pm).

Annual Independence Day Fireworks set for Saturday, July 5

The Grand Rapids Fireworks, presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort will light up the Grand Rapids skies Saturday, July 5 at Ah-Nab-Awen Park in downtown Grand Rapids in celebration of Independence Day. The July 5 spectacular is free and open to the public. Entertainment kicks off at 6 p.m. at Ah-Nab-Awen Park and continues through 10:30 p.m. and the start of the fireworks display.
