Treasurer John Globensky named national city executive of the year

ity Treasurer John Globensky has been named a GoldenGov: City Executive of the Year. Globensky is among eight city officials, city managers and mayors nationwide to earn the LocalSmart Award from StateScoop, a public sector cybersecurity media company. Globensky was honored for leading the implementation of GR PayIt – a digital platform that has modernized services and overall citizen experience.

The Grand Rapids City Commission held its bimonthly meetings Tuesday and took action on such topics as marijuana licensing, a new land bank partner and 2020 meeting schedule, among others. City of Grand Rapids purchasing agent receives industry’s top honor

The Grand Rapids City Commission this morning recognized Purchasing Agent Amie Merren for receiving the Marvin F. Klang Award – the highest honor given by the Michigan Public Purchasing Officers Association (MPPOA). Merren, who serves as chair of the MPPOA’s professional development committee, received the prestigious honor for her outstanding contributions to the purchasing field.
