Expungement Process

There are a lot of steps and paperwork involved in removing conviction records. Below is the general overview but the process depends on your individual situation.

  1. Get certified copies of conviction records
  2. Fill out application but don't sign it
  3. Get fingerprinted
  4. Sign application with a notary present
  5. Make 5 copies of application and conviction records
  6. File application with the County Clerk and get your hearing date
  7. Mail copies of application packet to the applicable prosecutor office, Attorney General, and Michigan State Police
  8. With the remaining two application copies, complete proof of service
  9. Prepare for hearing
