Register a Security Camera System

Do you have a security camera system at your residence or business? You can register it with us so we can collect video if a crime happens in the area. Complete this voluntary form to provide us with the details.

Step 1.Check your eligibility

Thank you for registering your security camera system with us! You're helping to make it easier to investigate crimes. We investigate crimes within Grand Rapids city limits. Make sure the security camera system you register is located within the city of Grand Rapids. 

Step 2.Gather contact information

We'll need to know who to contact in case we request video. Be prepared to provide the following:

Businesses

Name of business, address and information on who to contact for camera access (name, email, phone number, address)

Residents

Address and information on who to contact for camera access (name, email, phone number, address)

Step 3.Gather camera location details

We'll need to know the location details about your security camera system including:

  • The placement or location of the cameras and each view (i.e. front door or west sidewalk and parking lot)
  • How long the video is stored in your system
  • Images of the view from each camera in your system. If you can't export an image out of the system for each camera, take an image of the system monitor for each camera

Step 4.Complete the form

The Police Department uses their own online system for camera registration. Use the link below to register your camera.

We don't take registrations over the phone, but we'll make sure you have everything you need to submit. Our office hours are 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday except public holidays.
