Step 1.Before we get started

A couple of notes on GR PayIt :

  • Security. Rest assured that your payment information is encrypted when it's submitted and securely stored by a third party. These practices are PCI DSS compliant .
  • Goodbye processing fees. There are no processing fees when making parking ticket payments, payments for water bills or adding funds to your refuse account in GR PayIt .

Step 2.Gather your information

Make sure to have your parking ticket citation number or your vehicle's license plate number ready. You'll need these to search for your ticket in GR PayIt .

Step 3.Decide your payment option

You can pay online with a credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express) or an eCheck. 

Step 4.Make your payment

Create an account or login to GR PayIt . You'll find your parking ticket and pay it quickly and easily. GR PayIt will find your water bills, refuse account, and property tax balance and help you link those to a single account. You decide when and how much to pay. We'll process your payment with no added fees.

Step 5.Payment Timeline

When you make a payment through GR PayIt , your account is credited the following business day by noon. If you make a payment on a holiday, it'll be posted the following business day by noon. Check out the parking ticket payment options to decide which one works best for you.

Mail

Step 1.Gather your information

Make sure to send your payment with your parking ticket payment stub. Write the citation number on the check or money order. Need to find your parking ticket? Search for your ticket in GR PayIt here.

Step 2.Prepare your payment

Make your check out to Grand Rapids City Treasurer. Write your license plate number and citation number on the memo line of the check or money order. Keep in mind that it takes 5-7 business days for the US Postal Service to deliver mail to us. Make sure to mail your payment at least 5-7 business days before your payment is due. Check out the parking ticket payment options to decide which one works best for you.

Step 3.Mail your payment

Mail your payment to the Grand Rapids City Treasurer at the address listed in the Contact Us section of this page. Keep in mind that you should never send cash in the mail. Write your citation number and license plate number on your check memo.

Step 4.We'll process your payment

Keep in mind that it takes 5-7 business days for the US Postal Service to deliver mail to us. Make sure to mail your payment at least 5-7 business days before your payment is due. We'll process your parking ticket payment as soon as possible. The postmark date is accepted as needed to show that you submitted your payment on time.

Step 1.Prepare your payment

You can pay by phone with credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). There are no fees for parking ticket payments over the phoneCheck out the parking ticket payment options to decide which one works best for you.

Step 2.Call the payment line

We use a third party called ACI Payments, Inc. to take payments over the phone. Call 1-877-495-0333 and select option 1 to make your payment.

It takes 2 business days for your payment to post to your account. If you make your payment on the weekend or on a holiday the payment will post two business days later.

Step 3.Review the payment processing schedule

The length of time it takes for us to apply your payment varies depending on the day you pay. Review below to find out when you can expect your payment to post.

In Person

Step 1.Gather your information

Step 2.Bring payment

We accept cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express). Check out the parking ticket payment options to decide which one works best for you.

Step 3.Park and Pay at City Hall

Visit us between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday at City Hall. We're located at 300 Monroe Ave NW. We're closed on weekends and holidays.

You can pay at either of these locations:

  • Customer Service windows on the Monroe Level

  • City Treasurer's Office at the address listed in the Contact Us section of this page

Pay in person at City Hall to have your payment immediately posted to your account.

We'll validate 30 minutes of free parking in the Government Center Ramp while you make your payment. We'll give this to you at the counter. We don't validate for metered parking.

Drop off your payment after hours

Pay when it's convenient for you and drop off your check or money order payment in the dropbox. We empty the dropbox at 8:00 am and process payments within 2 business days. If you drop off your payment after 8:00 am, we'll collect and process it two business days after that.

You can find the dropbox across the street from City Hall at 300 Ottawa Ave NW.

Ottawa is a one-way street heading south and the dropbox will be on your left, the east side of the street.
