Are you a student interested in learning more about how firefighters serve our community? We're accepting applications from high school Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors for our Fire Youth Academy.

Make sure you're eligible to apply

To participate, students must:

  • Be a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior in high school 
  • Be under 17 years old
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Be in good standing at your school
  • Understand and/or exhibit the GRFD core values of honesty, integrity, loyalty, teamwork and excellence
  • Have no felony convictions
  • Be in good physical condition and pass a physical

Before the program starts, you'll need to attend a mandatory information meeting. A parent or legal guardian must attend this meeting with the student. We'll announce the date of this meeting soon.

Make sure you can attend every day of the academy

Attendance is mandatory for each day of the academy. The academy dates are Monday June 18, 2018  - Friday June 22,  2018.

  • Driver's License (if available)
  • Student ID
  • Letter of recommendation from school counselor, teacher, or coach
  • Proof of physical for the current school calendar year
  • A copy of your resume
