City issues statement in response to the Christopher Schurr mistrial

To help community members process this court decision, we invite them to connect with The Wisdom Center. It will provide mental health support today and tomorrow. The Wisdom Center, 1333 Alger St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507, will have licensed therapists available from 3 to 8 p.m. to offer free mental health support for those in the community.

Grand Rapids to host 175th birthday bash June 7 at Rosa Parks Circle

The 175th Birthday Party, Saturday, June 7th from 2 to 5 p.m. at Rosa Parks Circle is part of a yearlong celebration of the city’s rich history and vibrant future. The free event will transform downtown Grand Rapids into a lively hub of entertainment, history and community pride. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to celebrate with their families, friends and appetites for fun — and cake.

City of Grand Rapids rescinds No-Burn Alert

The Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD) today rescinded its April 29 No-Burn Alert, effective immediately. The ban had required residents to cease all outdoor burning due to dry and windy weather conditions. Because of rain and calming winds that the area is now experiencing, fire risks have subsided.
