The following is a joint statement from the Grand Rapids Police and Fire departments on the status of the Dawes Avenue fatal fire investigation:

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Our joint investigation into the fatal fire in the 2900 block of Dawes Avenue SE continues. The complexities of a fire investigation and the amount of forensic evidence that has to be tested and evaluated often take time. Due to the severity and sensitivity of this incident, we want to ensure we are thorough and accurate in our findings. We will provide additional information when it becomes available.
