What is Summit?

The Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit is a transformational day-long learning experience rooted in Summit’s core values of resident voice and racial equity. Summit brings together Grand Rapids residents, neighborhood leaders, city staff, and community stakeholders to learn, strategize, and build meaningful connections while strengthening neighborhoods and fostering belonging across community. The overarching goal is to help make Grand Rapids a more equitable place for all to live, work, and play.

The theme for this year’s Summit is “Stronger Together Building Community through Connection, Care, and Collaboration.” Through a series of interactive workshops aligned with local efforts and strategies, participants will explore ways to foster unity and collective impact, drawing on the lessons, relationships, and momentum built over the past 11 years.

Summit features an opening keynote presentation, multiple workshop options, lunch, and engaging activities, including a photo booth, community activation activities, and thoughtfully curated community resource tables. The day also includes recognizing Grand Rapids residents for their leadership through Neighborhood Match Fund projects, an Anishinaabe opening and closing drum presentation, and a Community Celebration to close out the day. This celebration brings together attendees, volunteers, and sponsors for free food, prizes, music, and more, honoring everyone who makes Summit possible.
