The City's fiscal year begins July 1 and ends June 30. The Fiscal Plan shows the City's budget, offering a detailed breakdown of our City financial plans by fiscal year. The Fiscal Plan details the uses of various funds to deliver services and staff City departments. It maintains essential City services, strengthens our ability to implement our strategic priorities and ensures financial stability.
The plan is focused on advancing the strategies and metrics outlined in our new Strategic Plan to ensure measurable improvements across each of the six priority areas: economic prosperity and affordability, mobility, safe community, health and environment, governmental excellence, and engaged and connected community.
Each year, from late April through May, the City presents information on the upcoming budget at public City Commission meetings. We also hold public hearings regarding the budget before it goes to City Commission for adoption. If you would like to view City Commission meetings, you may do so at the City of Grand Rapids YouTube page. You can view City Commission presentations at the City Commission Briefings page.
Our current, past, and upcoming budgets are provided in the sections below.
