Request a Water Leak Credit
Have you received an unexpected water bill because of a recent plumbing leak? We know a leak can be a costly surprise for homeowners and tenants. To help you recover, the City offers a residential leak credit for qualified residents.
Steps
- Repair your leak. The best way to stop high bills from continuing is to locate and repair any leaks. Be sure to hire a licensed and insured plumber.
- Gather your past bills with eServices. You'll need at least a year's worth of bills. You can login or sign up at eServices. You will need your water account number.
- See if your consumption meets the requirements. Your water consumption for the leak period must be at least 3 times higher than the same period last year. And it must also have come back down to normal after repairing the leak. That means your consumption after the leak should be within 5 units of the same period last year.
- Make sure your account is in good standing. If you have a past due balance, you'll need to pay that before applying.
Approval Process
We'll be in touch within 3 business days to let you know if you qualify.
If approved, we'll put a credit on your account to apply to future bills. The credit amount will be 25% of the water usage charge for the highest consumption bill period.
If you don't qualify, we'll let you know why and what you may be able to do to qualify in the future.
