The City of Grand Rapids will install a pedestrian-activated crossing beacon on Bridge St NW at Winter Ave. This project will also make improvements to the bike lane on Bridge St NW between Alabama Ave and Winter Ave.
This project will also:
- Change Winter Ave from Douglas St to Bridge St from a one-way to two-way traffic.
- Widen the sidewalk west and south of O’Toole’s
- Remove existing street trees and install new tree
- Separate the bicycle lane from the travel lane with a raised curb and raised bike lane to prevent people from parking in the bicycle lane
- Widen the sidewalk east of Alabama in front of the Wood Shop and Nonla Burger. This will prevent conflicts with parked vehicles and provide better access to the for the Fire Department.
