GRFD honors Kevin “Milly” Milanowski as 2025 Firefighter of the Year

The Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD) celebrated the achievements of its members last night during the Annual Awards and Promotional Ceremony and Firefighter of the Year Banquet in downtown Grand Rapids. During the evening, the GRFD presented its 2025 Firefighter of the Year Award to Equipment Operator Kevin “Milly” Milanowski for his leadership and innovation.

Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink set to open Friday

The opening of the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink for the 2025-2026 winter season is set for tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 5 – weather permitting. Located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, 135 Monroe Center St. NW, the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink offers families and friends the opportunity to create lasting memories throughout winter as they enjoy outdoor ice skating under the city lights.

City seeks proposals for new round of Neighborhood Match Fund Projects

The City is once again partnering with community members to support projects that bring neighbors together to learn, connect, build relationships and celebrate Grand Rapids.
Neighborhood Match Fund (NMF) is now accepting project ideas and proposals through December 31 for projects taking place between March and August 2026.
