Parks & Rec seeks community projects for Urban Agriculture Program

The City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is asking for proposals for its new Urban Agriculture Project (UAP). This program, developed in collaboration with the Urban Agriculture Committee, will support community projects that improve health, the environment and neighborhood connections. The first round is now open with a second round expected to open in Fall 2026.

Clear entrances, exits and fire hydrants to improve emergency response

The City of Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD) is urging building owners and residents to keep pathways free of snow and ice to help protect lives. Doing so helps first responders access their work quickly and effectively. Residents are asked to clear both the front and back entrances to their homes, and clear a three‑foot radius around any fire hydrants near their homes.

City adjusts sidewalk snow removal enforcement during severe weather

The City of Grand Rapids is temporarily adjusting how it enforces its sidewalk snow removal ordinance after recent heavy snowfall and extremely cold temperatures. The goal is to keep sidewalks safe and accessible while recognizing the challenges residents face during severe winter weather.
