Grand Rapids celebrates grand opening of New Public Service Center

City officials, staff, and community members gathered today to celebrate the grand opening of the new Grand Rapids Public Service Center, a $98.2 million investment that consolidates key City operations into a single, modern and sustainable facility. The ribbon cutting ceremony, held at 1500 Scribner Ave. NW, featured remarks from dignitaries, followed by tours of the 323,290-square-foot campus.

GRFD and Corewell Health launch improved emergency care coordination

The Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD) and Corewell Health™ have partnered to pilot Medical Priority and Wellbeing Response (MPWR), a new program designed to improve care coordination and help Grand Rapids residents access the services they need. The initiative integrates a full-time community health worker into GRFD response teams to reduce preventable emergency department visits.

Arena takeover to highlight emergency preparedness at Griffins game

The Grand Rapids Griffins and Grand Rapids emergency officials are teaming up to help fans start the new year with safety in mind. The Grand Rapids Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Arena Takeover: Emergency Preparedness Night will take place Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, during the Griffins’ home game against the Chicago Wolves at Van Andel Arena. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
