Parking and Mobility Access Guide
ArtPrize
ArtPrize is an international art competition and cultural festival held annually in Grand Rapids—a celebration of ideas, conversations, experimentation, and inclusiveness. This year, Mobile GR is partnering with ArtPrize to support a wellness-focused approach to engaging with art. There are hundreds of galleries Downtown, with many more embedded in the City’s neighborhoods. When we combine physical movement and art, we invite a deeper exploration of our diverse community.
Active Transportation
Active transportation, like walking, using micromobility (bikes, e-bikes, e-scooters) and taking the bus, has been linked to physical and emotional well-being. These means of moving through the City help us integrate movement into our everyday lives, which improves cardiovascular health, weight, and stress management.
Multimodal travel also helps us develop a new perspective of the City we live in. When we walk or use shared micromobility, we increase our chances of engaging in social interactions and building community, which addresses feelings of loneliness or isolation.
There is one walking map for each of ArtPrize’s three downtown districts. Each map features three recommended walking loops of varying length, allowing users to choose their experience based on time and ability. Each map is designed to intersect with as many installations within each district as possible and define key points for micromobility, bus routes, and parking.

The DASH
The Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH) is a bus network connecting key downtown Grand Rapids locations and parking lots. DASH is free to ride and arrives every 8 minutes! This service has a stop right outside of Devos Place.

When searching for the best route, set your final destination at Van Andel Arena. The Park & Ride program allows users to park for free and ride the bus (standard fare applies) to their destination. Learn more below!

Accessible Transportation
Parking
- All City-owned parking ramps have ADA parking stalls on the first floor of the structure.
- Reservations are not available for ADA parking. Visitors are welcome to drive up the night of their event. Spots cannot be held or reserved.
- Patrons must display a valid handicap placard or license plate registered in their name.
- Patrons with a yellow sticker are allowed to park at no cost.

Public Transit
All buses operated by The Rapid, including the DASH, are certified ADA/wheelchair accessible vehicles. There are DASH stops near most parking locations in Downtown. See the DASH map to plan your trip.
The Go!Bus Service by The Rapid is a shared ride, advanced reservation, accessible paratransit service intended to provide a comparable level of transportation to that which is provided by a The Rapid fixed-route bus.
Reserve Parking
Visitors driving to Downtown Grand Rapids are invited to reserve parking at any of our city-owned ramps. Daily reservations are made on our ParkMobile site.
All of the City ramps are ADA-accessible and within proximity to the DASH route!
Please keep in mind: ADA reservations are not available (a handicap placard must be presented), but are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
