Grand Rapids Income Tax Office adds evening and weekend hours to help taxpayers file
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Need help filing your City income tax return? The Grand Rapids Income Tax Office is adding evening and weekend hours to assist residents and non-residents before the April 30 filing deadline.
The office will be open on select Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
- March 14
- March 28
- April 11
- April 18
- April 25
It will also be open on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting March 4 through April 29.
Regular hours remain Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.
What to bring:
- Photo ID
- First and second pages of your federal return
- Any W-2s, 1099s or schedules
Residents of Grand Rapids must file a City income tax return, no matter where they work. Non-residents who work in Grand Rapids must file a non-resident return.
“We know filing taxes can feel overwhelming, and our goal is to make the process as easy and accessible as possible,” said Jennifer Woodard, Grand Rapids’ income tax administrator. “By offering evening and weekend hours, we’re giving residents and non-residents more flexibility to get the help they need and ensure their returns are filed accurately and on time.”
E-file options: Some vendors like TurboTax and H & R block, do not e-file Grand Rapids returns. A hard copy needs to be mailed or uploaded. You can upload your return at https://michigan-grand-rapids.insourcetax.com. You can also prepare or submit a form through this site.
The Income Tax Office is located on the third floor of City Hall, 300 Monroe Ave. NW. Validated parking is available in the Government Center Parking Ramp off Monroe and Ottawa avenues.
The deadline to file 2025 city income tax returns is Thursday, April 30.
