For foundation, rough-in and final inspections, you can schedule your inspection online, call the inspector listed on your permit, or call the Development Center at 616-456-4100.
You will need to provide your permit number or address, what you need inspected, a site contact name and number who will be onsite that day, or instructions on how to enter the site if unoccupied (e.g. door code)
Be sure your permit is properly displayed and your approved plans are on site.
For electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and water/sewer tap inspections you can schedule your inspection online, call the inspector listed on your permit, or call the Development Center at 616-456-4100.

If there is an active Building Permit for the work, be sure your Building Permit is properly displayed and your approved plans are on site.
If you are scheduling an appointment for fire operational permits, fire alarm permits, and special events using fire/pyrotechnics, you will need to call the City Fire Department at 616-456-3818.

Online Scheduling Instructions
All building and trade inspections (except for those preformed by the Fire Department) may be scheduled online. You must be a contact on the permit to schedule an inspection online. For more information about scheduling inspections online, check out our Online Inspection Scheduling Tutorial Video.
To request an inspection by the Fire Department, please call 616-456-3818.
Log in to Citizen Access. All of your permits will be listed in the Permits tab. If you don't see a list of permits, contact us to check that your license is connected. Give us a call at the number listed in the Contact Us section of this page.
From your list of permits, click on the blue Record Number link for the permit you want to schedule for. Keep in mind that only permits we've issued can have an inspection scheduled.
Click on the Record Info button. Then click Inspections to get to the request screen. Click the Schedule or Request an Inspection link to schedule an inspection.
The inspection type options vary based on the type of permit. Click the one you'd like to schedule then click Continue.
Pick the day and time block that works best for you. Available time blocks are morning (8:30 AM - 12:00 PM) and afternoon (12:30 PM - 3:00 PM). Then click Continue.
Enter your first name, last name, and phone number. If you'd rather you can use the Select an existing contact option instead.
Before you finish scheduling your inspection, the inspector will need a few details about accessing the site and the work being inspected. Click the Include Additional Notes link to open the text box. Make sure to include the following information:
Click Finish. Now your inspection is scheduled!
