GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Registration is now open for free summer day camps hosted by the Grand Rapids Department of Parks and Recreation for kids ages 6 to 12 at parks across the city. The camp programs will run Mondays through Fridays in three sessions:

  • Session 1: June 15 to July 3
  • Session 2: July 6 to July 24
  • Session 3: July 27 to August 14

The camps will be held every weekday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following parks:

  • Garfield Park – 2111 Madison Ave SE, Grand Rapids, 49507
  • MLK Park – 900 Fuller Ave SE, Grand Rapids, 49506
  • Roosevelt Park - 739 Van Raalte SW, Grand Rapids, 49503

Garfield and MLK summer camps will be held every weekday from noon to 4 p.m. and Roosevelt camp will be held every weekday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free lunch and snacks will be provided every day. Parents can only sign their children up for one camp location and must register their child for each session individually.

The day camps, which are free for City residents and $30 per week or $90 per session for non-residents, provide campers with an adventure-filled summer of creativity and growth. Camps include a mix of outdoor activities, sports, arts and crafts, STEM projects, reading, games, and field trips designed to foster social, emotional, and physical development in welcoming and fun setting.

“Our summer day camps provide a positive and safe space for kids to learn, build friendships and have fun throughout their school break,” said Laura Cleypool, parks and recreation department director. “Providing these camps for free to City residents is one more way our department is committed to offering accessible opportunities to residents that inspires play and movement outside.”

Counselors receive $16.50 per hour. Interested counselors can apply online HERE.
