City of Grand Rapids celebrates successful opening of new Division Avenue Fire Station

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The City of Grand Rapids is pleased to announce the successful opening of the new Division Avenue Fire Station (Station No. 10), following a ribbon cutting ceremony held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.

City leaders joined fire personnel at 1823 Division Avenue South to commemorate the debut of the $12 million, 18,900‑square‑foot, three‑bay facility, built to serve the neighborhood for the next 75 to 100 years. The new station features private dorm rooms, modern kitchen and dining areas, drive‑through apparatus bays, officers’ quarters, and a fitness room—creating a safe, modern and efficient environment for Grand Rapids firefighters.

The Division Avenue Fire Station was developed through the partnership of Integrated Architecture and EV Construction. Its strategic location—on Division Avenue S between Elm and Rose Streets—will enhance emergency response times across the surrounding community.

The ceremony included remarks from Mayor David LaGrand, City Commissioners, City Manager Mark Washington, Fire Chief Brad Brown, and several state legislators and project partners, who highlighted the importance of investing in public safety infrastructure and celebrated the collaborative effort that made the station possible.

“This new facility reflects our commitment to strengthening public safety and investing in the future of our neighborhoods,” said Fire Chief Brad Brown. “We’re proud to open a station that will support both our firefighters and the residents who depend on us every day.”
