SCAM ALERT:
We have been made aware of fraudulent emails representing to be from the City of Grand Rapids invoicing additional fees asking to be submitted by wire transfer.
The invoices appear to target applicants on upcoming City board and commission agendas. These invoices are cleverly composed and utilize publicly available details taken directly from public notices. These invoices seem to be sent in the days immediately before a board or commission meeting to create a sense of urgency and are sent from an email address with a similar domain to the City’s.
For reference, application fees are typically invoiced shortly after receipt by the department and would be sent from devcenter@grcity.us or devecenter@grand-rapids.mi.us. (Elizabeth already caught the extra ‘e’)
Please be cautious upon receipt of such emails from the City. Please reach out to us any time to confirm the validity of emailed invoices received.

No Live Work
The City of Grand Rapids Planning, Design and Development Department has implemented a new "No Live Work" policy for our inspectors, effective 1/30/2025. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of our inspection personnel.
We understand this change may require adjustments to your procedures for scheduling inspections, and we appreciate your cooperation in implementing it. To minimize the potential for re-inspections due to access restrictions, we recommend assigning a qualified member of your team to accompany city inspectors during inspections. This will allow your qualified personnel to safely perform any necessary tasks involving energized equipment, such as opening enclosures, while the city inspector conducts their visual inspection from outside the arc flash boundary.
We believe this collaborative approach will streamline the inspection process and maintain a safe working environment for everyone involved.
Thank you for your cooperation as we navigate this change together.
