GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The City of Grand Rapids is offering daily winter recreation at Indian Trails Golf Course starting Saturday, Jan. 19. Fat tire biking is available 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the clubhouse is open 8 a.m. to noon for warming and food and beverage purchases. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing are available weather permitting. After Saturday, the golf course, 2776 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily for visitors to use the trail system. The clubhouse is open and staffed 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. There are no fees to use the trails. Daily snowshoe rental is available for $3 when the clubhouse is open. Visitors need to bring their own bikes and cross country skis. The winter recreation trail system at the golf course features a 3.7-mile fat tire bike loop and a 2-mile cross country ski and snowshoe loop. It’s a great way for the community to enjoy the golf course in the offseason, said David Marquardt, the City’s parks and recreation director. “Indian Trails Golf Course is a beautiful piece of City-owned land that we want community members to enjoy and take advantage of year-round,” Marquardt said. “These winter activities help to advance program offerings that ensure and support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of all Grand Rapidians.” For more information about the Indian Trails Golf Course and for weather-related updates, CLICK HERE or call the Parks and Recreation cancellation hotline at 616.456.3699.
