GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Mobile GR and the City of Grand Rapids today announced a number of improvements to the Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH) bus service for resident and visitor riders. The DASH West and DASH North routes have been consolidated into a single route that covers a larger area of Grand Rapids.

The new DASH service goes live tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10. The new DASH circulator operates every 15 minutes Wednesday through Friday 7 a.m. to midnight, Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The City has budgeted for 7-day-a-week service and plan to bring it back as soon as capacity issues have improved.

New DASH destinations include a Bridge Street stop that connects much of downtown to a grocery store, a Grand Rapids Public Library stop, and Leonard Street stops that connects a new business and resident district to the downtown area. The new DASH loop will run in both directions – clockwise and counterclockwise. This allows riders to always take the shortest route to their destination. These changes are accompanied by new evening and Sunday DASH hours.

A transitional service, WORK, will also operate to serve commuters Monday through Friday. This commuter service will take riders from the west side DASH parking lots into the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. For more information please visit grandrapidsmi.gov/DASH.

“The DASH is now focused primarily on serving residents and visitors of Grand Rapids,” Josh Naramore, Mobile GR director, said. “We are especially excited to bring back late night and weekend service. Staff has engaged with the community and local stakeholders, and will continue to improve and adapt this service.”
