In accordance with Chapter 2, Article 1, sections 1.21 and 1.22 of the City Code of Ordinances, the City Commission shall meet in regular session twice each calendar month, and such meetings shall be held on Tuesdays. At least one regular meeting of the City Commission each month shall be held in the evening at 7 p.m. The remaining regular meetings each month that are not held at 7 p.m. shall be held in the afternoon at 2 p.m.
City Clerk Joel Hondorp said the new meeting schedule was made in consultation with Mayor Bliss, commissioners, City administration and staff.
“The new schedule allows those who cannot attend or watch the traditional evening meetings to now catch at least one at a more convenient time,” Hondorp said. “This new schedule allows us to be more transparent and open local government up to more residents and stakeholders.”
The meetings will continue to take place on the Ninth Floor City Commission Chambers located inside City Hall, 300 Monroe, NW. The Grand Rapids Information Network, Comcast Channel 26, will broadcast and live stream all meetings on the City of Grand Rapids’ Facebook page and YouTube channel.
