City hosts contractor networking event for upcoming river projects

The City of Grand Rapids will host a River Corridor Contractor Networking Event, Tuesday, Oct. 15. The 4 to 6 p.m. event at Southwest Middle/High School, 327 Rumsey St SW, Grand Rapids, aims to connect potential prime contractors with potential subcontractors for several upcoming city projects. The City encourages ALL construction contractors to attend and participate.

GRFD begins basic life support, elevating its service to the community

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ Emergency Medical Services (MDHHS EMS) Division has licensed the Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD) as a Non-Transport Prehospital Basic Life Support (BLS) Agency. The GRFD began responding as a BLS agency in September.

César E. Chávez Avenue reopens following $7.5 million reconstruction

City, neighborhood, and business leaders gathered this morning to commemorate the long-awaited reopening of César E. Chávez Avenue SW. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of a major seven-month reconstruction project and signaled the official road opening of César E. Chávez Ave. SW, between Clyde Park Avenue and Hall Street. Additional finish work will continue over the next 2 weeks.
