City Hall Open New Year's Eve Day

New Year's Eve is right around the corner – can you believe it? Where did 2019 go?!? As organizers of the downtown GR Ball Drop prepare for the big event, we want to make sure you're aware of several closures that may impact you if you're near or plan to visit City Hall on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Note: All City offices are open normal business hours that day.

Traffic alert

Monroe Avenue NE between Michigan and Lyon closes at 9 a.m. Dec. 31 for event staging. If you need to access the Government Center Ramp at City Hall after 9 a.m., you need to use the Ottawa Avenue entrance.

For those who have mobility challenges and for drivers of vehicles that can't enter the Ottawa entrance due to height clearance issues, event staff plan to direct you to the ramp's south entrance off Monroe.

Heads-up, City Hall visitors

Our 311 Customer Service Center on the Monroe level of City Hall is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 31.

If you exit City Hall between 4 and 5:30 p.m. that day, using the Monroe Avenue exit – the stairwell to Calder Plaza will be closed for fireworks staging. After 5:30 p.m., all visitors need to exit City Hall on the Calder Plaza level to Ottawa Avenue.
