2021 Theme: Moving Beyond Diversity…

The 2021 Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit took place Tuesday, June 1, 2021 through June 5, 2021.

The year’s theme reflected the power of the social justice events of 2020, sharing our personal and community stories around Moving Beyond Diversity…it is more than a Hashtag. While each community has unique veracities around diversity initiatives and the tokenization of them that often occur, that if addressed strategically, communities can interrupt this trend by challenging narratives, speaking truth to power, and creating a culture where diversity can be embraced and celebrated in its truest form.

What is Summit?

The Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit is an experience for Grand Rapids residents, business owners and stakeholders to learn with and from each other about strategies, resources and opportunities to strengthen neighborhoods and advance equity. The day or starts with an opening ceremony presentation and welcoming for our Elected Officials, community resource tables, intentionally curated workshops, interactive activities and a closing ceremony that includes drawing of prizes from local Grand Rapids businesses and organizations. Attendees enter the prize drawing by visiting community resource tables where a table representative stamps the attendees’ “Summit Passport”. Completed passports are entered into the drawing.
