David Allen and his wife, Donna, have been married for more than 30 years. They have two children – both married and living in Grand Rapids – and five grandchildren.
David is the Executive Director of the Kent County Land Bank Authority (KCLBA). He has 20 years of experience in urban community revitalization and has founded several successful community-based development organizations, including Oakdale Neighbors, City Vision and Lighthouse Communities (now LINC).
He previously served on the Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education for seven years, including two years as Board President. He also served on the School Board Finance Committee for one year.
During his tenure at LINC and most recently at KCLBA, David has been responsible for developing more than 800 units of residential and commercial properties. This has resulted in more than $75 million in economic development.
He received a bachelor of science from Reformed Bible College – now Kuyper College. He is the 2005 recipient of the H.J. Kuyper Founder’s Award as the Distinguished Alumnus.
David is active in his profession and in the community. He is Treasurer of the Michigan Association of Land Banks and is a board member of the West Michigan Planning Commission and the Area Agency on Aging of West Michigan. He also is an Elder at Oakdale Park Christian Reformed Church. He was a certified Michigan State Housing and Development Association Technical Assistance Trainer for nine years and previously served on the Governor’s Urban Advisory Committee.
David has been recognized for his work in the community. He has received the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan’s Fair Housing Advocate of the Year honor as well as the LINC Community Revitalization’s Visionary of the Year Award.
