About the Board

The Michigan Street CIA works to revitalize the commercial and mixed used business corridors within its boundaries. It does this by:

  • making permanent, one time improvements in their district
  • hosting marketing and promotional activities
  • providing a forum for discussions on investment and development projects.

This CIA includes the Michigan Street business district.

Member Composition Requirements

  • 9 members
  • One member is appointed as the Mayor's "Designee"
  • At least one member must live within a half a mile of the CIA
  • The majority of members must have ownership or business interest in property located in the CIA
  • There must be a member with a business interest from each business district in the CIA
  • Members are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Commission on December 31

Annual Activity Synopsis

The Michigan Street CIA completed work on a district business directory, which was formatted and printed into a brochure and map.  Additionally, the CIA supported a summer block party along the corridor and held a mixer for business owners and residents who live and work in the district.

The Michigan Street CIA does not have tax increment revenues which have not been expended within 5 years of their receipt.

Audits

The Michigan Street CIA is audited as part of the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

Residency Requirement

As long as one member within the board resides within half a mile of the CIA, there are no other residency requirements.


Term Limits

Your term on this board is for 4 years. There is no term limit, so you can serve an unlimited number of terms.


Compensation

There is no compensation for members on this board.
